Aikikai Aikido Mushinkan

The History of the club

I created the Aikikai Aikido Mushinkan club in 2011.  The club is affiliated to Kai Shin Kai, a traditional school of Aikido part of Aikido Alliance UK and also has Hombu affiliation membership. The organisation has 24 member clubs; 20 are spread throughout Britain, two in Northern Italy, Aosta, and two in the United States – in Tampa, Florida, and Las Vegas, Nevada.

The club has strong links to the Cercle Tissier which is headed by Shihan Christian Tissier 8 dan Shihan.

The club will initially run one class per week. Further classes will be arranged over time. In addition to the regular weekly class, weekend courses will be arranged with visiting instructors, in particular Pascal Guillemin, 6 dan Aikikai.

CLASSES

The classes are on hold until further notice – (Currently looking for new premises)
For any information, please send an email to ppjesset@gmail.com.

Beginners information

Beginners men, women and children are welcome. We recommend that you watch if you have never had any experience in martial art. However, if you feel you would like to commence practice on your first day, please speak to the instructor before the class or contact the club.

Light clothes on your first classes will be acceptable. However, once you have joined the club, you will need to wear a GI and a belt. The GI and the belt can be bought through the club at a reduced price through our supplier Nine Circles (supplier of quality Japanese budo equipment).

Please remove all your jewellery prior to the start of the class. This is to avoid any injuries. In addition, cut your nails on hands and feet. Proper hygiene must be observed to avoid any discomfort with the other students during practice.

Please note, it is important that you discuss any health concerns with the instructor or your own doctor prior to start training in Aikido as a beginner.
